Judge KO’s Courthouse Questioning of Suspects

A judge in Queens, N.Y. on April 17 nixed the questioning of suspects shortly before they were to first appear in court. Acting Justice Joel L. Blumenfeld found that questioning conducted by the Queens District Attorney’s Office violated the attorney code of ethics because it created the “false” impression that prosecutors would conduct an investigation only if suspects avail themselves of a last “opportunity to tell us your story.”
